OPTION 1. Electronic Russian visa (e-visa)

In this section of the blog I’ll explain step by step how to get the electronic visa. Citizens of 64 countries can apply for this type of visa. Unfortunately, citizens of the United States, Canada, Great Britain or Australia cannot apply for an electronic visa.

It’s very easy to get as you can apply for it online from home and don’t need to go to a consulate or visa center. However, you can apply for it no earlier than 86 days before the start of your trip.

You receive it by email in a PDF electronic file and you only have to print it in A4 format. This may be a tourist, business or humanitarian type of visa.

You won’t need hotel reservations or an invitation. All you need is travel insurance that is accepted by Russian authorities.
