Russia Visa for Monaco Citizens: eVisa and Regular Visa Requirements

Do Monaco citizens need a visa to travel to Russia?

If you’re traveling from Monaco to Russia with an ordinary passport, you will need a visa. Monaco does not have a visa-free agreement with Russia for standard passports, so a valid visa is required for entry, regardless of the purpose of your trip.

⚠️ Important: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your visa expires to meet Russian entry requirements.

Visa options for citizens of Monaco

Let’s go over each option in more detail.

The electronic visa (eVisa)

Good news: citizens of Monaco are eligible for the Russian unified eVisa. This visa allows you to visit the entire territory of Russia, not just limited regions like in the past.

With an eVisa:

  • You can stay up to 30 consecutive days in Russia.
  • It’s valid for tourism, business, private visits, or participating in cultural, scientific, sports, or humanitarian events.
  • No need to visit a consulate or visa center—everything is handled online.
  • Your eVisa will be emailed to you as a PDF; you can print it or keep a digital copy.

You don’t need hotel reservations or an invitation letter.
✅ But, travel medical insurance is mandatory for Monegasque citizens.

👉 I’ve written a step-by-step guide to applying for the Russian eVisa.

The unified eVisa entitles you to enter the Russian Federation for private or business visits, tourism, or participation in scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic, or sports events. If your purpose doesn’t match these, you’ll need a regular visa.

⚠️ Applications must be submitted between 86 and 4 days before your trip.

The regular visa

If you plan to stay longer than 30 days or your trip purpose isn’t covered by the eVisa, you’ll need to apply for a regular visa.

Key facts:

  • Submit your application at a Russian consulate or visa center. Find your nearest office here.
  • Complete the visa form online at visa.kdmid.ru.
  • A visa support letter (invitation) is required, which you can get here.
  • Apply at least 3–4 weeks before your departure date.

The most common type is the tourist visa, valid up to 30 days, but other categories exist (business, private, humanitarian, work, study, etc.).

Immigration card and registration

Upon arrival in Russia, you’ll be given an immigration card—keep it safe until you leave. More info here.
