There are several ways to book a restaurant in advance in Moscow, St. Petersburg or other Russian capitals: you can contact them by phone, do it online via the restaurant website reservation form or use a restaurant reservation center site.

As in other parts of the world, in Moscow, St. Petersburg or other Russian capitals, it is possible to book a restaurant for lunch or dinner in advance in different ways. This is useful when it comes to good restaurants in which demand is high, especially during weekends or holidays.

The first thing to do is choose a restaurant, depending on budget, area and type of food, for which I recommend reading this article: Where to eat in Moscow: from Teremok to Pushkin Cafe. Once you have chosen a restaurant, you can book it in several ways:

1. Make reservations by phone

The most common way to book anywhere in the world is to call the restaurant to make the reservation in advance. The only problem is that not all restaurants have English speaking staff, so if you are staying in a hotel the easiest thing is to ask reception to make the reservation by phone in your name.

2. Make the reservation online on the restaurant’s website

Another option is to make the reservation online through the restaurant’s website. Thus, some of the best known restaurants have their website in English and allow online reservations.

Just fill in the form, indicating the day and time, send it and wait for them to confirm the reservation. For example, this is the reservation system of Savva Restaurant in Moscow:

3. Use a restaurant reservation center site

The last option is to make the reservation of table through a restaurant reservation center website. The most popular is the Russian site, Resto.ru, which has an English version that allows you to make reservations at the main restaurants in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tyumen, Vladivostok or Yekaterinburg. The reservation process is very simple:

First. Enter the website at http://en.resto.ru/. Choose the city and enter in the form the name of the restaurant that you want to book. You can also find restaurants according to the type of cuisine, price, location and services offered. In the example I am reserving the Bolshoy Restaurant in Moscow:

Second. Click on the “Reserve a table” button:

Third. Enter your booking details: day and time, your phone, email and a message:

Fourth. Wait for them to confirm the reservation. The booking system will be responsible for making the reservation for you and notify you by email when it is confirmed.
