Among these nationalities is Jamaica. In this article I\u2019ll outline the requirements that Jamicans citizens must meet to enter Russia without a visa, as well as what documents they need to take with them.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/russiau.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Flag_of_Jamaica.svg_.png\" alt=\"Flag_of_Jamaica.svg\" class=\"wp-image-1661\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Jamaicans do not need a visa to travel to Russia (for up to 90 days)<\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rusalia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Visa-Free-Russia-300x200-1.jpg\" alt=\"Visa-Free-Russia-Jamaica\" class=\"wp-image-12126\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>As of September 27, 2018, Jamaicans do not need a visa to travel to Russia, under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kdmid.ru\/docs.aspx?lst=country_wiki&amp;it=\/Agreement_Russia_Jamaica_27092018.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">visa exemption agreement or treaty signed in New York between Jamaica and Russia<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under this agreement, Jamaican citizens may enter, transit and remain in Russian territory without a visa for a <strong>maximum of ninety (90) calendar days<\/strong> within the period of one year, from the date of their first entry. The passports must have a validity of at least six (6) months at the date of entry into the territory of Russia (visa waiver).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Example 1: if you enter Russia on your Jamaican passport on January 1 and leave on March 31 (90 days), then you will not be able to re-enter Russia until January 1 of next year, that is, once one year have elapsed since the date of first entry. From January 1 you can enjoy a new 90-day stay under the same conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Example 2: If you enter Russia on your Jamaican passport on January 1 and leave on January 30 (30 days), then you will be able to re-enter Russia to enjoy another stay of up to 60 days, until you\u2019ve exhausted the 90 days, if this occurs before January 1 of next year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The vast majority of Jamaicans who travel to Russia as tourists or on business use this <a href=\"http:\/\/en.rejamaica.ru\/?q=Consular_Section\/visas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">visa exemption<\/a>. It doesn&#8217;t matter if you are traveling to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi or Siberia, the visa exemption applies to the entire Russian territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep in mind that during this stay in Russia you cannot carry out any paid work, either on your own or on behalf of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This visa exemption also applies to citizens of Commonwealth of <strong>Dominica<\/strong>, Federation of <strong>Saint Kitts and Nevis<\/strong>, <strong>St. Vincent and the Grenadines<\/strong>, <strong>Antigua and Barbuda<\/strong> and <strong>Grenada<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/russiau.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Embassy-of-the-Russian-Federation-in-Jamaica.jpg\" alt=\"Embassy-of-the-Russian-Federation-in-Jamaica\" class=\"wp-image-1662\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. What documents does a Jamaican need to enter Russia without a visa?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>First let me say that you do not need to travel to the Russian Consulate in Kingston to do any paperwork, nor do you need to apply for an <a href=\"https:\/\/russiable.com\/e-visa-russian-electronic-visa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">electronic Russian visa<\/a> (e-visa).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a Jamaican tourist, all you have to do is present your <strong>valid Jamaican passport<\/strong> at border control. The passport must have a validity of at least six (6) months at the date of entry into the territory of Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is, if you buy a plane ticket to enter Russia on June 15, 2020 and leave on June 30, 2020, check that your passport has an expiry date after December 15, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important to check the validity of your passport before your trip and ensure that it does not show any damage or defect. Otherwise, you must renew your passport before traveling to Russia to avoid problems at the Russian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What if I have dual citizenship? If you have a passport from another country (for example, a US, British or Australian passport), keep in mind that in order to benefit from the visa exemption you must present only your Jamaican passport at the Russian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/russiau.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Jamaican-Passport.jpg\" alt=\"Jamaican Passport\" class=\"wp-image-1663\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to a valid passport, it\u2019s a good idea to provide your <strong>round trip airline tickets<\/strong>. The exemption agreement also does not stipulate that transport tickets have to be presented, but it is customary for border officials to ask for them upon your arrival in Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rusalia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Billete-avi\u00f3n-Mosc\u00fa.jpg\" alt=\"Airline ticket from Jamaica to Moscow\" class=\"wp-image-6755\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. What documents does a Jamaican not need in order to enter Russia without a visa?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes doubts arise about whether other documents should be presented, such as an invitation (tourist voucher) or hotel reservations or travel medical insurance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A) Do Jamaicans need an invitation letter to travel to Russia?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>No, Jamaicans do not need an <a href=\"https:\/\/russiable.com\/russian-visa-invitation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">invitation<\/a> or hotel reservations, as long as they are making use of the visa exemption period.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rusalia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Ejemplo-carta-de-invitacion-a-Rusia-con-Airbnb.jpg\" alt=\"Russian invitation \/ Visa Support example - Jamaica\" class=\"wp-image-10369\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">B) Is it mandatory for Jamaicans to show travel medical travel insurance?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It is not mandatory to take out travel medical insurance but it is highly recommended. In fact <strong>Russian consulates recommend having travel medical insurance<\/strong> for any eventuality that may arise, because if you need medical attention in Russia it can be very expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do not have travel medical insurance, you can purchase it easily in 5 minutes online from the Russian company <a href=\"https:\/\/russiable.com\/cherehapa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Cherehapa<\/a>. In what cases do Jamaicans need a visa to travel to Russia?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are Jamaican you must apply for a visa to travel to Russia in the following cases:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>If you wish to remain or reside in the territory of the Russian Federation for more than 90 days.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want to engage in any work or commercial activity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you want to study at a Russian university.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, if you are a foreigner and you live in Jamaica, you can apply for a Russian visa at the <a href=\"https:\/\/russiable.com\/russian-embassies-consulates-visa-centers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Russian Consulate in Jamaica<\/a> (Kingston), as long as you provide proof of your legal residence in Jamaica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In all the above instances you have to apply for a Russian visa, in which case you have to travel to the Russian Consulate in Jamaica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can apply for different types of visas<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Tourist visa<\/strong>, for tourist activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Business visa<\/strong>, to engage in business activities or conduct negotiations in the territory of the Russian Federation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Private travel visa<\/strong>, to visit family or friends in Russia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Student visa<\/strong>, to study in Russia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Work visa<\/strong>, to be able to work in Russia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Humanitarian visa<\/strong>, for stays involving cultural exchange, sports, scientific-technical, socio-political and religious activities or for humanitarian missions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Transit visa<\/strong>, for transit to a destination country through the territory of the Russian Federation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To obtain any of these visas you need to fill out an <a href=\"http:\/\/visa.kdmid.ru\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">electronic form<\/a>, print, sign and attach a 3.5* 4.5 size photo, as well as provide other documents: <a href=\"https:\/\/russiable.com\/visa-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">invitation<\/a> (or visa support \/ voucher), original passport, round trip plane ticket, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will find information about the documents needed when applying for each type of visa, as well as the deadlines, prices, costs and consular fees at this link: <a href=\"http:\/\/en.rejamaica.ru\/?q=Consular_Section\/visas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/en.rejamaica.ru\/?q=Consular_Section\/visas<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. What processes does a Jamaican have to go through upon arrival in Russia?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To conclude this article, I should explain the processes that a Jamaican needs to go through on arriving in Russia.
